Kathryn O' Neill

I have over 7 years experience teaching English to male & female students. I currently teach across KS3, KS4 & KS5 including English as a First Language & AS.

I have been teaching in Qatar for almost 4 years in a school with students segregated at high school age. I am well versed in creating engaging lessons that are functional for current curricula as well as being mindful of Qatari & Arabic culture.   

I encourage students to think beyond the page & build their own formula of critical thinking. 

I believe students feel empowered in their learning if they are encouraged to lead the progression of their lessons. 

I have taught in schools in Ireland & South Korea. 

Since January 2019, I have been employed full-time at Doha Academy. In my tenure at Doha Academy, it is my responsibility to oversee curriculum planning, lesson & resource development, track student progress using in-school data systems. I also liaise with pastoral leaders & parents regarding any issues students have. 

I also served as year leader to Year 8 girls assisting with class changes & concerns about bullying. 

I have completed development courses with ANSPEAR to keep up to date with safeguarding & differentiation. I am also registered to complete Cambridge workshops for English KS4 & KS5 to keep abreast of any syllabus changes or updates with examinations. 

My most relevant education so far has been the development courses I have completed with ANSPEAR. These allowed me to be aware of current policies & practice allowing for ease of implementation.
