Sam Weber

As a Māori European, I have great respect and curiosity for other cultures and traditions which has brought me overseas. I have played semi professional rugby in Ireland while also feeding my passion for teaching by substitute teaching.  I am deeply invested in Health & Wellness in Education.  I believe modern education needs to consider social media and current blended learning to create room for open discussions within the whole school community about the importance of our students’ mental and physical health.  I am passionate about Mathematics and IT, both disciplines I strive to make approachable and fun for my students as I believe these to be pivotal in our technology driven world.   I consider my classroom to be a safe space where students are encouraged to be creative, to be curious and to make mistakes and learn from them. I was fortunate to have spent the first 3 years of my career teaching in New Zealand being mentored by very strong & experienced faculty.  The New Zealand education system is a very inquiry based educational system similar to IB.  I taught students aged 8 to 13 years old. I covered all aspects of the New Zealand curriculum including P.E., Drama, Music and Art.
