    The AssistantHead of Secondary will provide professional, highly effectiveleadership and management that will achieve outstanding resultswithin the Secondary school. The Assistant Head of Secondary willsupport, develop and empower the Secondary Phase, including YearGroup Leaders, Teachers, Parents and Students.

    Under the directionof the Head of Secondary, the Assistant Head of Secondary will takea crucial role supporting curriculum development, teaching andassessment practices and student achievement.

    The Assistant Head ofSecondary will be a proactive member of the Leadership Team,supporting Hamilton to be the school of choice for families inDoha.

    Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility Operational With thesupport of the Head of Secondary, the Assistant Head of Secondarywill support with the day-to-day management of the Secondary Schoolto administer and supervise systems and routines to ensure theefficient operation of this section of the school.


    • Toensure that the operation of the Secondary phase reflects the wholeschool's philosophy and to ensure that theschool's mission is implemented
    • To lead dataanalysis, pupil progress, assessment, tracking and reporting withinthe Secondary Phase in order to inform teaching and learning, andpastoral matters
    • To support the production of atimetable which reflects the needs of the students, and which takesaccount of staff strengths, skills and reasonable requests in theSecondary School, and which articulates with the timetables in theother sections of the school
    • To take the lead oncurriculum development and keep up to date with any curriculumchanges.
    • To provide professional leadership for theSecondary phase, ensuring the highest possible quality of educationfor students
    • To promote a positive and professionallearning culture, inclusive of staff wellbeing
    • Tosupport the continuous growth of a school which opened in August2019, building on the excellent reputation it has establishedwithin Qatar
    • Ensure the Secondary phase complies withMOEHE regulations
    • Contribute to the development andimplementation of strategic action plans, policies and whole schooldocumentation Teaching
    • Undertaking teaching duties asrequired by the Head of Secondary
    • Be an excellentteaching role model, implementing practices successfully andconsistently. Curriculum
    • Establish, evaluate and adaptan appropriate US Curriculum for all students
    • Lead thedelivery of the agreed curriculum across the Middle and HighSchool, and the maintenance and development of the highest possibleacademic standards
    • Ensure that the school'scurriculum is highly effective and stretching and for all learners
    • Regularly review all academic policies, curriculumdocuments and schemes of work
    • Review academic handbooksas required and ensure that these are kept up to date
    • Ensure that students' personal development is effectivelypromoted through the curriculum and other enrichment activities
    • Remain up to date with changes in educational theory andpedagogy and subject/phase requirements
    • Develop,establish and evaluate a University Guidance Counselling programmewhich provides outstanding support for students'applications to further education
    • Oversee thepreparation, provision and implementation of SAT, ACT and IELTS
    • Oversee assessment and tracking systems (internalassessment and MAP) to record, monitor, evaluate and report studentprogress and attainment
    • Work with stakeholders to ensurethat data is used effectively to raise standards of achievement andto inform school improvement
    • Lead on target setting forwhole school and subject areas with Subject Leaders and the Head ofSecondary
    • Support the option choices programmethroughout the HSD and IB DP; to include publication of curriculumprovision information for students and parents, organisation ofassociated events and consultation meetings
    • Providestaffing and resource forecasts to the Head of Secondary to deliverthe curriculum Students
    • Create 'amazinglearning' opportunities for all students
    • Support Secondary School admissions processes in conjunction withthe Admissions Team
    • Active development and fostering ofpositive relationships with students
    • Responsibility forstudent pathways in High School
    • Responsible for healthand safety of Secondary School students, staff and visitors to thissection of the school
    • Oversight of the Secondarycurriculum, inclusive of the International Curriculum in MiddleSchool (underpinned by US standards) and the High School Diplomaand IB DP at Grades 9 – 12. Work in conjunction with theHSD and IB DP Coordinators to ensure successful teaching andlearning is in place Staff
    • Support the provision ofeffective orientation and induction for new Secondary School staff
    • Provision of professional and personal support anddirection to Secondary School staff in order to maximize theeffective carrying out of their duties
    • Provision oftimely advice to the Principal in matters pertaining to staffmovement and deployment, and assistance in the recruitment ofSecondary School staff
    • Ensuring the Secondary Schoolstaff are given access to appropriate professional development
    • Maintaining open communication with staff through staffnotices, and daily briefings
    • Maintaining opencommunication in order to keep the Head of Secondary well informedabout Secondary School matters
