Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, careful and efficient vessel load/discharge services in accordance with safe systems of work.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to corporate policies and procedures;
  • Transfer cargo manually into and out of freight containers (Manual Handling);
  • Attend to mooring and unmooring of vessels as well as shifting, fastening or releasing of lines of the vessel;
  • Ensure all used equipment and tools are safely and securely stored;
  • Operate basic power and hand tools;
  • Clean and make minor repairs to equipment, tools and/ or facilities;
  • Perform general laboring duties on various tasks as assigned by the foreman;
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned.
  • Follow specified systems, processes and procedures, implemented in the workplace, to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and other requirements/standards

Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualification:

Secondary School

Basic/Advanced Rigging Third Party Certificate


Professional Experience:

5 years experience in Container Terminal of which minimum 3 years in the rigging capacity

Experience in working in Port/ Container Terminal handling multi cargo ( such as G/Cargo, Break bulk, Bulk, bags and other type of cargo)

Multi purpose Port experience


Geographic Experience:

Not required


Computer Skills:

Not required


Language Skills:

Basic English (spoken & written) and other languages spoken by the gangs are preferred


Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge:

Good knowledge in vessels loading or unloading equipment and tools

Basic knowledge of related health, safety, security and environmental regulations

Understanding of cargo stowage planning and restrictions

Physical ability to work on a ship at height
