    Identifies and assesses patient safetyconcerns with respect to age and developmental considerations.Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluateseffectiveness of intervention forpatient.

    Provides expert comprehensive direct andindirect care to the specific populations needs, includingcultural, spiritual, age, psychosocial, communication, gender,sexual orientation, economic, education, family, and conditionneeds.

    Provides advanced assessment skills,integrating appropriate data sources to assess the signs, symptoms,reactions, behaviors, or general appearance to determine normalversus abnormal characteristics.

    Evaluates andworks to improve the process of patient care delivery within theunit.

    Performs skin tests, immunizations,phlebotomy, and the initiation of peripheral venousaccess.

    Serves as a clinical and operationalresource for all nursing activities in the department. Providesassistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff andstudents.

    Delegates and assigns tasks to healthcare workers within the scope of their jobresponsibilities.

    Evaluates, facilitates, andpromotes patient flow, coordinates discharge planning and teamrounding.

    Participates in the completion ofrequired competencies.

    Champions departmentimprovement activities.

    Assumes responsibilityfor mentoring, coaching and staff development. Contributes toperformance evaluations.

    Coaches and supportsnursing staff in the application of advanced clinical skills andcritical thinking to support patient.
