• establish the networkingenvironment by designing system configuration, directing systeminstallation and defining, documenting and enforcing systemstandards
• design and implement new solutionsand improve resilience of the currentenvironment
• maximise network performance bymonitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems andoutages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with networkarchitects on network optimisation
• undertakedata network fault investigations in local and wide areaenvironments using information from multiplesources
• secure network systems by establishingand enforcing policies, and defining and monitoringaccess
• support and administer firewallenvironments in line with IT securitypolicy
• report network operational status bygathering and prioritising information and managingprojects
• upgrade data network equipment to thelatest stable firmware releases
• configurerouting and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services andfirewalls
• provide remote support to on-siteengineers and end users/customers duringinstallation
