Job description:


Our Client is a global leader in engineering, procurement, and construction services, and we are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Qatar on a long-term basis.

This key role within the Doha office involves delivering projects across various scopes of work, including study, FEED, EPC, and PMC.


As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, Wood and/or project procedures, and maintaining safety, quality, and project schedule targets.


Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Champion and promote a strong culture of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) both within the organisation and among their clients.
  • Support the delivery of project and engineering excellence in collaboration with the Project and Engineering Managers.
  • Take ownership of assigned project scope and activities, ensuring timely delivery to the satisfaction of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the Proposal, Study, or Project Manager for small to mediumsized scopes of work under the guidance of senior management.
  • Coordinate activities, collaborate with lead engineers, engineering disciplines, and supporting departments to ensure accurate interpretation of tender and project scopes and meet deadlines.
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering scope, inputs, and deliverables across multiple locations, including specialist and highvolume engineering centers.
  • Ensure strict compliance with contract and scope of work in completing project activities within the established policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Ensure the quality of project and engineering deliverables before customer issue, including approval of key deliverables as required.
  • Coordinate and develop key project and multidisciplinary deliverables such as Project Execution Plan, Project Plans/Procedures, Basis of Design, Subcontract Scopes of Work, Design Reviews, Study Reports, Project Trackers/Lists, and project plans.
  • Coordinate the development of method statements, deliverable lists, manhours, CTRs, and risk assessment to support both tender and project scopes.
  • Take responsibility for project schedule, manhours, key milestones, and coordination of mediumsized engineering projects according to established requirements.
  • Ensure correct sequence of project delivery, highlighting and managing risks if works are completed out of sequence.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned scope of work, manage project action registers and risk, and stay updated on technical and project issues.
  • Chair and document technical and project review meetings with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring resolution of technical and project issues.
  • Lead project reviews, design reviews, and audits to ensure compliance with Wood and customer expectations.
  • Hold and document weekly progress meetings with discipline engineers, assign ownership, and drive actions to closure in a timely manner.
  • Act as the daytoday contact and communication with clients, ensuring their satisfaction throughout the project.
  • Manage interfaces with third parties to ensure availability of input for engineering deliverables according to the project schedule.
  • Lead site surveys and data gathering activities for brownfield scope of work, taking responsibility for the development of the site survey report.
  • Support project and engineering managers in identifying and managing project and technical risks, and taking necessary actions for their resolution.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer/Registered Professional Engineer certification is mandatory.
  • Ideally, further education and certification in Project Management (PMP or APM).
  • Selfmotivated, proactive, and highly driven individual with high standards, attention to detail, and initiative.
  • Strong commercial aptitude and awareness, with the ability to interpret and follow contracts and raise potential delays, changes, and commercial matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven leadership abilities in managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Extensive experience in risk and change management throughout the project lifecycle, including both design and site works.
  • Strong coordination skills and experience in resolving complex technical issues and conflicts while prioritizing and planning work logically.
  • Experience in a variety of projects and contract scopes, including greenfield and brownfield, onshore and offshore, Pre-FEED through to EPC, with a focus on offshore upstream.
  • Familiarity with project phases such as Concept/Feasibility, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Start-Up, and Warranty.
  • Desirable: Site experience in the Construction and Commissioning phase.
