The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre‑FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes of work. This role is a long‑term assignment based in Qatar. You will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including safety and quality control within the man‑hour, cost, and schedule targets.

As Principal Estimation Engineer you will prepare, review, and submit accurate estimates to support budgeting and project control throughout the lifecycle.

• Develop and issue the Basis of Estimate for project cost estimates for approval
• Develop, issue, and maintain project cost estimates in accordance with the Basis of Estimate including statements of work scope, assumptions, man‑hour estimates, narratives, and review & comment of client documents
• Facilitate and participate in the internal review of project cost estimates, coordinating comments & updates and ultimately obtaining estimate approval as required
• Review and deliver estimates to Wood management and the client for approval
• Review and issue updates to project cost estimates in a controlled manner
• Liaise with other Project Controls disciplines to ensure projects budgets and schedules reflect the approved project cost estimate
• Liaise with engineering, procurement, subcontract and construction functions to maintain awareness of costs and ensure they are accurately reflected in the project cost estimate
• Ensure the formal filing of project and proposal estimates, collect historical data and continuously update estimating databases and norms in a controlled manner; review and issue change orders in accordance with appropriate change notifications
• Review and communicate cost and schedule impacts of change notifications; participate and lead Project Controls compliance and continuous improvement reviews
• Play an active role in mentoring and career development of estimating personnel
• Ensure alignment with Wood processes, procedures, and guidelines
• Promote the use of standard estimating systems, procedures, and work methods
• Coordinate the estimate plan and development with the project team
• Overall development of the total project estimate
• Prepare the total Project Estimate Basis
• Arrange and conduct department, discipline, and project estimate review
• Present the estimate to Wood and client management
• Accountable for ensuring estimates meet Wood policy, processes, and standards; are timely; have a documented Basis of Estimate; maintain records of approved estimates, current contract rates and materials prices; perform contingency risk analysis; correctly identify scope and design development charge orders; track change orders with submission and approval dates

• University degree in an engineering discipline
• Experience within energy and power projects
• Experience of Pre‑FEED, FEED and EPC project estimating (onshore and offshore)
• Experience in presentations to clients
• Knowledge of all estimating techniques (top‑down and bottom‑up)
• Experience in preparing CAPEX, OPEX, ABEX (essential)
• Brownfield estimating experience (essential)
• Strong written English skills to produce estimate basis, development plans, minutes of meeting, etc.
