• Actively participates in thetechnical and analytical work of thesection.
• Determines acceptability of specimensand/or blood or blood components, performs laboratory tests andcommunicates critical results in accordance with laboratory policyfor assigned section and/or obtains and records results forlaboratory tests according to establishedprocedures.
• Liaises with Technologist II andSupervisor - Clinical Biochemistry on appropriateness of tests,results and additional testing asrequired.
• Maintains Chemistry equipment assetin Qpulse.
• Uploads maintenance and troubleshootlogs in Qpulse.
• Maintains and updates theChemistry Quality board.
• Assists theTechnologist II and the Supervisor with Quality control dailyprocess, Reagent management and CAP review and investigation.
• Monitors, records and reports back results,participates in discussions to rectify areas of concern ifnecessary.
• Maintains co-operation between thesections and between disciplines by regular communication withother Technologist I grade and Senior staff.
• Inliaison with the Technologist II and Supervisor - ClinicalBiochemistry, ensures adequate stocks of reagents and consumablesare available for the efficient running of theservice.
• In liaison with the Technologist IIand the Supervisor - Clinical Biochemistry, provides technicaladvice on, and assists in the selection / validation of newequipment.
