• Verifies alignment and tolerancesof moving parts, using measuring instruments, such as dialindicators and thickness gauges.
• Must be ableto interpret job requests, perform tests to confirm the problem andpropose repair methods without permanent supervision.
• Must have experience in and be able to placeand remove spades and to open and close pipe flanges, recognise thegasket types and types of bolts / nuts.
• Minimum 5% should be skilled in assembly,testing and fixing of safety relief valves and all kinds of valvesat site
• Performs valve testing by using testbenches or field testing.
• Must have experiencein and be able to perform proper slinging and lifting withchain-blocks and small cranes, use of Gin wheel lifting.
• Should be able to deputise for the Supervisorand act as Leader to less experienced technicians.
• Must have experience in and be able to executepreparation of work packs, e.g. to carry out all the necessary workplanning and preparations to be able to execute the site works andcompile the relevant information in a work pack for submission withthe Permit to Work request.
• Meets all minimumrequirements for Mechanical Technician.
• Multiskilled craftsman as defined in Section4, Appendix 13.
