Railway Safety Expert

• ISA
• QatarAwell known client is looking for a Railway Safety Expert toundertake independent safety assessments associated with theproject lifecycle of the assets of Doha Metro, Lusail Tram and LongDistance.

To assess that that Safety Engineering and Safety ofOperations on network are conducted in compliance withinternational standards and codes of practice, in order to achieve/maintain a level of risk that is at least as low as reasonablypracticable (ALARP).Duties & ResponsibilitiesSTRATEGIC*Supports the Senior Manager in establishing plans and procedures,regulations for safety, certification, regulation, safety ofoperations and risk assessment.

• Meets the Key PerformanceIndicators and Department objectives agreed with the SeniorManager.
• Representing Safety Engineering and Safety of Operationsmatters internally.

SAFETYThis is a Key Safety Position

• Assesssystems within your domain competencies
• Liaise with consultantsand contractors on assessment issues, and interface with clients onboth technical and contractual matters.
• Interfacing with domainassessors for other disciplines within the QR business, for examplethe Rolling Stock, Signalling, Power Supply, Civil engineering,Operation and Maintenance.
• Provide guidance to the assessmentprocess and moderate the output.
• Owns the Safety assessments ofthe Requests for Changes (i.e. Operational Changes and Changes toSystems).OPERATIONAL
• Takes full responsibility with regard toprovision of expert support for procedures / processes on riskmanagement and standards.
• Develops and recommends best industrypractices with regard to safety assessments.
• Interfacing withcontractor teams on Safety of Operations & SafetyEngineering issues
• Complies with all Management System (CMS)policies, plans and procedures
• Performs and carry out other dutiesas requested by the Senior Manager
• Assessing that SafetyEngineering and Safety of Operations activities are undertaken asdescribed by Common Safety Methods, Yellow Book and EN50126Assessing the impact on safety due to change in requirements andestablishing a process for monitoring ofrequirements.

EDUCATIONBachelor's degree inengineering.


EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 10 years' experience inRailway Safety and Regulations safety approvals and decision makingwith special emphasis on experience in EN 5012X.

Extensiveexperience in safety certification of railway projects / railwayengineering, construction and bringing / maintaining assets intouse.
Experience of building relationships with, and influencing arange of people at all levels within and outside theorganisation
