Restaurant Hostess - Receptionist


Position Overview:

We are seeking a friendly and organized Restaurant Hostess - Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our establishment and provide excellent customer service to our guests.

As a Restaurant Hostess, you will be the first point of contact for guests, greeting them warmly, managing reservations, and coordinating seating arrangements to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.


Key Responsibilities:


Guest Reception and Greeting:

  • Welcome guests as they arrive, providing a warm and friendly greeting.
  • Escort guests to their tables and present menus, engaging in polite conversation and making them feel valued.

Reservation Management:

  • Manage incoming reservation inquiries via phone, or inperson, assisting guests with booking and confirming reservations.
  • Maintain an organized reservation book or computer system, ensuring accurate and uptodate information.

Seating Arrangements:

  • Coordinate table assignments efficiently, considering guest preferences, reservation details, and server sections.
  • Optimize table turnover and waitlist management during busy periods to maximize seating capacity.

Guest Relations:

  • Respond to guest inquiries, providing information about the restaurant, menu items, and special promotions.
  • Handle guest concerns and complaints in a professional and empathetic manner, escalating issues to the management as needed.

Waiting Area Management:

  • Ensure the waiting area is clean, organized, and inviting for guests.
  • Communicate waiting times clearly to guests and offer beverages or other amenities to make their wait comfortable.

Assist with Service Flow:

  • Collaborate with the waitstaff and kitchen team to ensure a smooth dining service.
  • Communicate any special requests or needs from guests to the appropriate team members.

Telephone Handling:

  • Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally, providing information and taking reservations when necessary.
  • Relay messages accurately to the appropriate staff members.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Previous experience as a Restaurant Hostess or in a customer service role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
  • A warm and welcoming demeanor, with a strong focus on providing outstanding customer service.
  • Organizational abilities to manage reservations and coordinate seating efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the restaurant's operating hours.
  • Proficiency in using reservation management software and basic computer skills.
