Inorder to fill this role effectively thesuccessful candidate will need to have a diverse range of qualitiescompetencies andexperience. The HSScience Teachershould be an outstanding learnermotivator andcommunicator with excellent interpersonal skills and should becapable of creating an environment of mutual support and respect byidentifying andaddressing factors that inhibit learning. He/she should be able toprovide support to studentsstaff and parentsto facilitate thedevelopment of an internationally minded community which shares acommon interest in preserving the environment caring for each otherand engaging enthusiastically inlearning.

Requirements

1. Qualificationsand Experience
   

1.1.Bachelor s degree inBiology orChemistry orequivalent

1.2Qualified teacher statusappropriate tothe teaching duties to beundertaken.

1.2.Experience with theMiddle YearsProgramme(MYP)Biology &Chemistry. IB DiplomaProgramme (DP)experience ineitheris aplus.

1. Knowledgeand Skills. S/heshouldhave:
   

2.1.alignmentwith the ISL values of diversity passion identity andunderstanding.

2.2. excellentcommunication skills with the ability to effectively communicate inEnglish.

2.3. highlevelunderstanding of current research on how students learn and theability to motivate high schoolstudents.

2.5. capabilityto support student needs in learning and pastoralmatters.

2.6. awareness ofthe principles of Understanding by Design and Assessment forLearning.

2.8. stayinformed about current developments and research findings in thefield of high school teachingand learning ofBiology andChemistry.

2.9. Effective time management skills to manage a diverse anddemanding workload.

1. Responsibilities.
   

3.1.Implement ISL Qatar schoolpoliciesand strategic plans.

3.2.Collaborate with the Head of High School and the MYP and DPCoordinators to ensure effective curriculum delivery includingresource selection andmanagement.

3.3.Participate in the design development implementation and review ofthe DP and MYP curriculum.

3.4. Contribute to the design development implementation and reviewof assessment and reportingsystems.

3.5.Promote the health and safety of high schoolclasses.

3.6.Engage in professional development and contribute to regular stafftraining and meetings.

3.7.Foster a sense of team spirit in thehigh school and build connections withcolleagues across the school.

3.8.Contribute to community service and global citizenshipgoals.

3.9.Participate in the extracurricular activities program of theschool.

3.10.Promote a positive attitude between the high school and the widercommunity through cooperative relations publications competitionsand other initiatives.

3.11.Enhance the professional standing of the teachingbody.

3.12.Participate in the ongoing development of the DP and MYP addressingmatters from the authorizationreport.

3.13Use technology to support high school learning especiallythrough the useof a Virtual Learning Environment (e.g.ManageBacMicrosoft Teams etc.).

3.14.Support the school in meeting its programobligations for NEASC and theIB.

3.15.Contribute to the development of Assessment for Learning (AFL) andUnderstanding by Design (UBD) within the highschool.
