    • The primary responsibility of atimekeeper is gathering and compiling time sheet data fromemployees across departments. While some companies may stillutilize analog methods to record employee hours, the vast majorityof organizations now use computerized time reporting technologiesto accurately record personnel hours. Timekeepers use thistechnology to collect employee hours for submission to payrollprocessing.
    • Timekeepers also review employeepayroll data to calculate wages and withholdings for taxes, SocialSecurity, and employee benefits. The timekeeper uses employeepayroll data and the department's record-keeping systemto determine the proper withholdings based on hours worked, taxstatus, and pay rates.
    • Throughout the year,timekeepers also manage and update employee pay data within thepayroll department's system. This includes creatinginitial payroll data based on the employee's withholdingoptions when they are hired and entering the employee'spay rate within the system. Timekeepers may also need toperiodically review and update pay data based on employee raises orchanges in their tax status or other withholdings (such as addingdependents or changing benefitplans).
