Roles & responsibilities:

  • Create and lead a content strategy for exhibitions and other stakeholders that supports and extends exhibitions initiatives, both short
- and long-term.

  • Manage the distribution of content across all channels.
  • Supervise curators, writers, editors, content strategists in line with best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and style.
  • Develop exhibition standards, systems, and best practices for both physical
- and digital platforms for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing

  • Establish workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content.
  • Supervise and manage the maintenance of content inventories such as wall texts, labels, extended labels, AV content and digital content on QM website.
  • Ensure consistent global experience and implement appropriate localization/translation strategies.
  • Participation in the hiring and supervising of content/curatorial leaders in all content verticals.
  • Management and coordination of all exhibitions related content with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure all content is delivered on time and within agreed terms.
  • Edit, proofread, and improve content providers contribution.
  • Facilitate in creating engaging content with content providers.
  • Strategize with external and internal stakeholders to develop content for: Exhibitions, Education, Publication, Marketing, and Communication departments.
  • Develop and produce executive level presentations, such as multistakeholder kickoff presentations, and metrics for senior management reporting/updates.
  • Implement content management systems and archiving for efficiency, accuracy and legacy related priorities.
  • Integration of content activities within museum and exhibition practices
  • Ensure all content is culturally appropriate, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for the exhibition's defined audience and visitor.
  • Conduct on going evaluation to gauge content effectiveness by gathering data and handle analytics (or supervise those who do) and make recommendations based on those results.
  • Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
  • Review layout (artwork, design, photography) and check content for accuracy and errors.
  • Ensure all content produced meets the stakeholder's objectives and accurately reflects their tone and intent.
  • Ensure compliance with QM policy and procedure, and QM legal (e.g. copyright and data protection).
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Curators, Exhibition Project Owners, Head of Exhibition Design, Head of Travelling Exhibitions, and Head of Marketing, Head of PT and Comms, Head of Digital Content Production, and Director of Publications) on all creative and branding initiatives to ensure a consistent message across channels.
  • Liaise with content writers/curators to ensure brand consistency.
  • Collaborate with museums, centralized departments, Publications, Education, Communications and PR, inhouse and freelance graphic designers, and photographers to meet project requirements; set editorial and project priorities and schedules.
  • Collaborate with curatorial and content contributors as an editorial expert to create content that advances communications goals and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate heavily with colleagues on the design and development teams to create highly engaging content across multiple departments
  • Manages the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the Section.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 810 years of experience in a museum or related institution.
  • Experience in working with High and Senior Management on strategic priorities.
  • Experience managing multiple assignments in short timeframes while delivering highquality results.
  • Master's Degree in English, Art History, Education or relevant field.
  • Ability to lead and inspire large teams of content creators to achieve exhibition's stated goals.
  • Proven editorial skills. Outstanding command of the English (or primary customer) language.
  • Understanding of Exhibitions Department objectives.
  • Skill at both longform content creation and realtime (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics.
  • Ability to think like an educator, intuitively understanding what the audience needs to know and how they want to consume it.
  • A passion for new technology tools (aka, using the tools you preach about) and usage of those tools within your own blogs and social media outreach.
  • Clear articulation of the curatorial goal behind the creation of exhibition content.
  • Leadership skills required to define and manage a set of goals involving diverse contributors and content types
  • Project management skills to manage editorial schedules and deadlines.
