Position Overview:

The Safety Officer in the oil and gas industry plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of personnel, facilities, and the environment.

This position involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards.

The Safety Officer collaborates with various departments and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development:Develop, update, and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with industry regulations and best practices.

Create safety plans for different operational activities, including drilling, refining, transportation, and maintenance.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses across operational areas to identify potential safety concerns.

Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and hazards, incorporating engineering controls and administrative measures.

Training and Education:Organize and facilitate safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure awareness of safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Provide training on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.

Incident Management:Establish incident reporting systems and investigate accidents, near-misses, and hazardous occurrences to determine root causes.

Develop corrective action plans based on incident investigations to prevent recurrence.

Regulatory Compliance:Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to health, safety, and environmental standards in the oil and gas industry.

Ensure the company's operations adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements.

Emergency Preparedness:Develop and implement emergency response plans and evacuation procedures to address potential disasters or emergencies such as fires, leaks, and spills.

Coordinate drills and exercises to assess the effectiveness of emergency plans.

Auditing and Inspections:Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices to ensure compliance with established safety standards.

Prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations for corrective actions.

Communication and Collaboration:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and management, to promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Communicate safety updates, guidelines, and performance metrics to all levels of the organization.

Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety processes, procedures, and training methods.

Stay informed about industry advancements and emerging safety technologies


Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such from National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) or Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
  • Demonstrated experience in safety management within the oil and gas industry.
  • Indepth knowledge of industryspecific safety regulations, standards, and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in conducting safety training sessions and presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence change.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with emergency response protocols and crisis management.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging environments.

Salary:
QAR3, QAR4,000.00 per month


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Doha: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
