    Wood has an opportunity for Principal Planning Engineer role to support future growth in our expanding business in Qatar.

    The projects team focusing on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets.

    This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

    Responsibilities

    The Principal Planning Engineer will be responsible for the development of project schedules and plans, ensuring they are prepared to the required level of detail and accuracy and accordance with contractual requirements and Wood policies, procedures,andstandards.ThePrincipalPlannershallberesponsibleforidentifyingareasofbestpractise and driving continuous improvement within the Planning team.

    SupportsthemanagementanddevelopmentofthePlanningteam,themanagementofprojectschedules and plans, and the preparation and filing of project planning documentation.

    Mayactasthefocalpointforseveralprojectscopes. May delivertheroleasastandalonepositionoras part of a team as defined by the requirements of the project organisation.

    Typical responsibilities
    • Reviewandmaintainplanningcontrolstructuresaredevelopedandmaintainedinalignmentwith approved project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
    • Monitorandcontrolplanningactivitiesthroughallphasesofprojectlifecycle
    • Liaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions, and others as required, including thirdparties,tomaintainawarenessofprojectactivities,theirstatus,andtheirimpactonthe project schedule and manpower requirements.
    • Providecopiesofprojectplansandschedulesinaccordancewithprojectreportingrequirements.
    • Providecopiesofprojectprogressandperformancestatusreportsinaccordancewithproject reporting requirements.
    • Reviewandissueupdatestoprojectmanpowerrequirements
    • Monitorandreviewoverallprojectprogressstatus,achievementofmajormilestones,and evaluate project performance in relation to planned performance.
    • Attendinternalprojectprogressandperformancestatusmeetingsasrequired
    • Liaise with cost discipline to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of man-hour budgetsandensurethattheimpactofallchangerequestsareproperlyassessedandincludedin the schedules.
    Responsible for ensuring that:
    • ProjectschedulesaremaintainedinaccordancewithapprovedcontractandprojectWork Breakdown Structure.
    • Projectplansand schedulesareissuedinaccordancewithcontractreportingcalendarandonanas required basis.
    • Workpacksdeliverymilestonesareclearlyidentifiedwithintheprojectschedules.
    • Astandardsetofagreedmilestonesaremaintainedwithinboththescheduleandthecost reporting database.

    Qualification
    • Typically requires Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical or business discipline
    • knowledgeofPrimaveraandother scheduling softwareandrelated toolsandtechniques including Logic and CPM analysis, resource loading and levelling
    • AdvancedknowledgeofProjectExecutionProceduresforScheduling
    • Excellent understanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what-if scenarios
    • Advancedunderstandingofprojectmanagementprinciplesandtechniques
