JobDescription:

• PSDCis seeking a seeking a senior-level Azure SQL Server DatabaseArchitect with extensive knowledge and experience in SQL Serveradministration in Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments insupport of mission at Public Safety delivery center (PSDC). Thecandidate will manage all aspects of database administration in asingle and clustering environment including but not limited toplanning, installation, configuration, security configuration,backup and restore, optimization, and monitoring of SQL Serverdatabases. The candidate should also possess T-SQL developmentskill to maintain and optimize SSIS ETL processes, and SQL scriptsfor enhancing and automating security lockdown process. They mustdemonstrate their technical expertise and experience by havingpersonally performed these activities during their past projectsand engagements rather than just participating on a team that wasresponsible for these activities. The candidate should understandIT and software development life cycle processes to provide supportin the Microsoft AzureGovernment.
  

KeyResponsibilities:

• Designand implement SQL Server (HA) solutions on Microsoft Azureenvironment. May also be requested to be involved with on-premiseSQLServer
  
• Experiencein performing data migrations upgrades/modernizations, performancetuning on IaaS and PaaS Managed Instance and SQLAzure
  
• Designand deploy Microsoft SQL PaaS solutions in Microsoft AzureGovernment.
  
• Monitorand maintain database storage, and database health, performance,sustainability andsecurity
  
• Monitorand maintain SQL server Mirroring, Log shipping, backups, ETL SSISjobs, andencryption
  
• ProvideSQL Server administration in MS SQL Server 2016, 2017 and/or 2019and install SQL as IaaS on VMs
  
• Partnerwith agency DBAs and solution teams to fully understand productionrequirements, configure Azure DB environments to meet thoserequirements and to assist in any data migration betweenenvironments.
  
• Planand implement database backup strategies and perform recovery incase ofdisaster
  
• Respondto database and user problems, and provide guidance to junior levelDBA
  
• AnalyzeSQL query plans, suggest and implement solutions to supportdevelopers in the Software Development Life Cycle(SDLC)
  
• Install,configure and upgrade database management systems and softwareincluding clusteringenvironment
  
• Refineand automate security lockdown processes using T-SQL and PowerShellDSC
  
• OptimizeMicrosoft SQL Server for ETL, Data visualization, and BusinessIntelligence dataanalysis
  
• Shouldbe proficient in Business Analysis, Architecture Knowledge andTechnical SolutionDesign.
  
• Supportsthe configuration, deployment and execution of CI/CD pipelines inalignment with SDLCmethodologies.
  
• Knowledgeof networking engineering including DNS, Active Directory,Firewall, Load balancers,etc.
  
• Responsiblefor reviewing new EDW data integration requirements, and dataanalysis related to data sources, partnering with Data Architectand other Business Intelligence Developer teammembers.
  
• Responsiblefor estimation, build and testing of Extract-Transform-Load (ETL)integrations and Extract-Load-Transform (ELT) integrations insupport of data requirements, using tools in use by the EnterpriseData Services Team (SQL, SSIS, SQL Stored Procedures, Azure DataFactory Databricks,Synapse).
  
• Responsiblefor maintaining ETL/ELT code versions, using TFS and Azure Dev Ops,and migrating objects from non-Production to Productionenvironments, asassigned.
  
• Performsmaintenance to ETL/ELT objects as data requirementschange.
  
• TroubleshootsETL/ELT batch failures, determine root cause and performs steps toresolve the batch failures, including code remediation asneeded.
