To coordinate care and medically managenewborns born premature, critically ill, or in need ofsurgery.
Ensure that critically ill newbornsreceive the proper nutrition for healing andgrowth.
Provide care to the newborn at a cesareanor other delivery that involves medical problems in the mother orbaby that may compromise the infant's health and requiremedical intervention in the deliveryroom.
Stabilize and treat newborns with anylife-threatening medical problems.
Consult withobstetricians, pediatricians, and family physicians aboutconditions affecting newborn infants.
Supports inprofessional development of all medical, technical and nursingstaff in his/her area of expertise.
Participatesin the various committees for the upgrading of patient careservices and organization of work within and outside thehospital.
Participates in scheduling of on-callduties and provides on-callservices.
Participates in the assessment andupdating of drug, medical supply and equipmentneeds.
Writes, completes and approves medicalreports for patients.
Participates in researchactivities.
Performs special procedures asprivileged.
Adheres to policies, guidelines,plans and programs of the organization.
Performsother duties as assigned/directed by the Head of thedepartment.
