The Buyer is responsible for selecting, sourcing and buying merchandise.

The Buyer's role requires negotiation and coordination with suppliers to ensure the timely replenishment and refreshment of successful product lines and to integrate this process with the company procurement and inventory functions via ERP management information system.

Sales Analysis

  • Study markup analysis, sales reports, accounts statements and recommend appropriate actions to optimise business profitability.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure that product lines are replenished in accordance with sales turnover.
  • Analyse retail pricing structure to optimise profit margins and product sales.
Inventory Analysis & Management

  • Creating products under retail inventory in the ERP.
  • Processing and followup of Purchase Requisitions in the ERP
  • Monitoring modules of Stock adjustments and transfers in the ERP
  • Liaise with Procurement for prompt issue of Purchase Orders and provide them with required justification document.
  • Monitor physical stock levels and liaise with warehouse and logistics staff to understand and resolve issues related to supply, deliveries etc.
  • Study stock reports and to ensure that stock levels are maintained to support the business, considering supplier lead times from source to delivery.
Supplier Liaison & Coordination

  • Managing modules of Vendor database in the ERP
  • Negotiate with local and international suppliers regarding product selection, cost price, terms, delivery, freight, insurance, quality, marketing support, sales strategy and staff training.
  • Ensure that most favourable terms are secured from suppliers to maximise operational profitability.
  • Liaise with suppliers for quotations and financial invoice
  • Coordinate between Design team and Supplier for artwork related clarification.
  • Welldeveloped computing skills including understanding of relevant IT products and software (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High degree of market awareness and a detailed knowledge of the retail industry and trends.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in merchandise buying
  • Degreelevel qualification required.
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
