A 1-year Research Fellow position is available as soon as possible, working on a project funded by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) with a possibility of another year.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic researcher who is interested in the development of premature children. The researcher will be expected to collect data from premature children and their mothers.


The research fellow, who will be based at Women's Wellness Research Center, Hamad Medical Corporation, will be responsible for liaising with the mothers to attend the assessments, recruiting and assessing children using various psychological tools and interviewing parents, data analysis and the day-to-day running of the study.

The applicant has to be fluent in the English and the Arabic languages.


The research fellow will also be involved in the writing-up of journal articles and dissemination of findings in workshops and conferences and writing grant proposals.


Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Organise and undertake quantitative research.
  • Collect data from children and implement cognitive and neuropsychological tests and interview parents.
  • Write reports and papers for publication and presentations at conferences.
  • Undertake dissemination of research findings at local, national and international level from recently completed projects.
  • Carry out literature searches and reviews of the literature.
  • On occasions other duties may be undertaken as part of this role

Person Specifications

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential:


  • PhD or close to completion in Psychology or medical science or three years of research experience.
  • Knowledge of a range of research methodologies including quantitative research methods.
  • Experience in writing peer reviewed publications.

Desirable:


  • A postgraduate qualification (MSc or postgraduate diploma) in Psychology or medical relevant area.
  • Good knowledge of existing psychological and medical literature in one or more of the following areas: premature infants, neuropsychology, crosscultural research.
  • Experience of preparing research proposals.
  • Experience of presenting at conferences.

Skills & Competencies

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral (including electronic).
  • The ability to organise work to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using information technology in communications, word processing, reference management (e.g., Endnote) and electronic databases.
  • Ability to analyse qualitative data.
  • Ability to analyse quantitative data including basic and advanced multivariate statistical skills.
  • Ability to use modelling techniques (e.g., Structural Equation Modelling)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Enthusiasm and adaptability
