Job Summary To performblood collection, specimen registration and low to mediumcomplexity testing in the department of laboratories andappropriate clinical areas of TVH.

To receive, label and loadsamples onto analysers and preform pre analytical quality checks onsubmitted specimens.

Job Responsibilities 1 Performs a variety ofroutine blood drawing procedures to include venepuncture techniquesusing standard equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves,tourniquets, syringes, and butterfly needles.

Collects venousblood, capillary blood, using precautions that ensure the safety ofthe patient and laboratory staff. Collects, registers, andtransports laboratory diagnostic specimens and the management ofall preanalytical aspects of these services.

Prepares, processes,labels and stores patient specimens and samples according todepartmental procedures using standard techniques and equipment,for subsequent analysis by Clinical Laboratory staff.

Performs lowcomplexity laboratory tests and the management of all aspects ofthese services. Provides technical guidance to Phlebotomystudents/trainees assigned to work area. Maintains inventory ofsupplies and re-order as required.
