Wood is actively seeking applications for the Principal Engineering System Engineer role to support future growth in our expanding business. The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre‑FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man‑hour, cost, and the project schedule targets. This is a long‑term assignment based in Qatar.

• Creating business growth through the practical application of technology. It is a generalist role with a broad vertical understanding of the Wood organisation and a broad horizontal understanding of our client sectors, technology, and innovation.
• Central to Wood's continued digital transformation, ensuring the IDT and business strategies remain aligned.
• Connecting Wood core digital enablers to business needs, driving external growth opportunities and unlocking internal efficiencies in partnership with the business to position Wood as a digitally enabled organisation and market leader.
• Trusted technology leader providing digital knowledge and expertise.
• Providing digital leadership across the Wood business aligned with business needs to deliver on digital objectives and realise expected benefits.
• Serving as the digital interface for IDT services, unlocking capabilities to deliver digital solutions efficiently and effectively.
• Aligning with Product Managers and staying aware of their latest developments to present a consistent message to the business.
• Serving as the IDT Business Partner interface to the business, presenting a consolidated and clear interface.
• Acting as a business focal/elevation point for digital initiatives, developing and nurturing a network of cross‑functional relationships across the business, IDT, and partner organisations to identify, develop and implement opportunities effectively.
• Continuously refreshing knowledge and awareness of new and emerging technologies and services within a variety of industries, and how they could be applied within the Organisation in support of the Digital Strategy.
• Assimilating new products/technologies rapidly and elevating appropriate innovation opportunities where they can benefit the Wood business.
• Understanding Wood's core enablers and co‑creating and driving the technology plan for Wood's \"hero\" solutions and the digital product lines that support them.

• Well established industry reputation, typically 15 years experience
• Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
• Positive and practical with an ability to think strategically
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of business processes, data and IT systems utilised within an industrial and corporate environment
• Excellent understanding of business and technology trends, with a strong understanding of underlying systems and data. Understand how data‑driven insights inform and unlock better decision‑making and value generation
• Experience contributing to engineering discussions, technology decisions and strategy relating to delivering client‑facing products
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams with the ability to influence, build relationships and sell ideas to stakeholders, clients and partners, sometimes in challenging circumstances
