Port Operations:

Manage port operationsand services including the provision of navigation aids, pilotage,diving, mooring, towage, berth scheduling and agency services toport users.

Traffic Control:
Manage maritime trafficcontrol in common navigational channels and waterways includingvessel traffic and ensure safety of vessel movements.

Maritime Safety:
Direct the implementation of maritime safetystandards and procedures, ensure safe operations and investigateshipping and ports related incidences (e.g. collisions, explosions,natural disasters and discharge of pollutants) in coordination withthe relevant departments and State authorities.

PortRegulations:
In the capacity of port regulator, direct theimplementation and enforcement of local, national and internationalmaritime conventions, laws.

In addition, develop and implementlocal procedures and guidelines to ensure safety and security ofshipping in the area of jurisdiction of the port.

Relationships:
Manage relationships with industries, State andother stakeholders to ensure achievement of the port s mandate,strategies and business objectives.

Ports Planning andDevelopment:
Manage the planning and optimisation of portfacilities to meet industries and State requirements and implementstrategies to maximise revenues.
Initiate new projectsfor the development and improvement of port facilities andnavigational waterways and take over and operate uponcompletion.

Risks Management:

Manage theidentification of technical and operational risks and manage thedevelopment and implementation of improvement and mitigationmeasures to ensure integrity of assets and reliability ofoperations.

Emergency Readiness:

Manage thedevelopment and maintenance of marine emergency readiness plans andoperate emergency response services on the waters within theassigned areas.

Exercises a high degree of discretion inresolving ports related issues and provides advice andrecommendations to Manager of Industrial City and Vice President ofIndustrial Cities on ports and maritimematters.
