Job description:


We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated, UK qualified Head of Year for secondary to join our team.


Our Heads of Year provide professional leadership and management for a year group and support high standards of pastoral care, learning and achievement for all pupils.

The Head of Year assists the Senior Leadership Team in the overall management and development of the school's pastoral support system.


Successful applicants must have:

  • A certified UK teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, or PGCE.
  • A desire to help build a thriving pastoral team in a girls' school.
  • A proven track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of how to differentiate teaching materials so that all pupils have an opportunity to access the curriculum.
  • A willingness to take part in extracurricular activities after school.

Desirable qualities:

  • Experience of teaching pupils with English as an Additional Language or English as a Second Language.
  • Experience of integrating technology into secondary teaching.
  • Experience of, or an understanding of how STEM education can be integrated into the secondary curriculum.
  • Recent UK experience and previous international teaching experience.

Sherborne Qatar School for Girls, a STEM School, opened in a new purpose-built school building in January 2021 on a brand-new site near Doha Festival City, Qatar.

The school is currently for girls from Pre School to Year 11 and is marketed equally to local pupils and expats, but the majority of girls comes from the local community.

We will open Year 12 in August 2023.

This is in the best traditions of British education and is the educational philosophy behind the girls' school.


In order to achieve this vision, we are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and innovative teaching professionals to join this new school and help our Founding Headmistress develop our ethos inside and outside of the classroom.
