    Job Summary To provide comprehensive,specialized diagnostic testing, interpretation, reporting andtreatments in the field of Neurophysiology, in order to achieve thevery best quality of patient care, for all service users.

    They willwork independently, within clearly defined protocols andevidence-based practices as a multi-disciplinary team member.

    Theywill support clinical decision making by providing routine,non-routine and specialized investigations, required to assist inthe diagnosis and treatment of suspected or known NeurologicalConditions.

    They will provide high quality, Neurology andNeurophysiology services across the following key service areas:


    • Neurology Inpatients and Outpatients
    • Pulmonology & Sleep Services
    • Neonatal care JobResponsibilities 1 Provides a highly complex, clinicalneurodiagnostic service to patients of all ages from a range ofspecialities suffering from a wide variety of medical disordersincluding those, which may be neurological and/or psychiatric innature.
    Provides diagnostic support to adults and childrenincluding but not limited to:

    Performs and provides technicalreports on Electroencephalographic (EEG) investigations employingcurrent standard techniques without supervision and usingspecialist techniques, i.e., Sleep deprived EEG's;EEG's performed with sedation, multi-sleep latencytesting and ambulatory EEG's.

    Performs emergencyEEG's at various locations. Performs Nerve Conductionstudies for suspected peripheral nerve involvement. Assists withEMG (Electromyographic) examinations and complex Nerve conductionstudies.

    Performs multi-modality evoked potentials, i.e., Visualevoked potentials, auditory evoked potentials, upper and lower limbsomato-sensory evoked potentials, taking appropriate action wherenecessary.

    Performs Electro-retinography (ERG's).Provides analysis, assessment, and interpretation of a broadspectrum of adult diagnostic and some paediatric test results.

    Provides goal orientated, evidence based and clinically reasonedtreatment plans/recommendations alone and in conjunction with anintegrated team of physicians, nurses, and other Allied HealthProfessionals (as applicable) in relation to clinical scope ofpractice.

    Job Responsibilities 2 Responsible for audit and qualityof the area of clinical neurophysiology delivery. Participates indiagnosis related clinics and takes an active role in patientmanagement as required.

    Takes an active role within the developmentof the Neurophysiology service, participating in In-ServiceTraining, facilitating the training and development of all staff,by sharing knowledge and skills where appropriate.

    Manages own timeand caseload with an awareness of limitation of the Neurophysiologyservice and a knowledge of specialist facilities and appropriatereferral.

    Adheres to all departmental and facility wide policies,procedures, risk assessments and processes in the interests ofmaintaining a safe and effective work environment and promoting thehighest quality patient care experience.

    Practises clear, concise,and timely documentation of clinical records including (but notlimited to) initial assessment, re-evaluation, treatment sessions,discharge planning, referral letters, insurance requests andreports using a variety of digital applications and IT systems.

    Takes responsibility for security, care, and day to day maintenanceof equipment and working environment including carrying out dailycalibration of all equipment.

    Co-ordinates the reporting of issuesand facilitation of repair in collaboration with senior staff.
    Maintains appropriate infection control practices and training, tomaintain the safety of patients and colleagues. Undertakes clinicaland non-clinical audit tasks, as assigned, aimed at informing thefacility leadership on performance in critical areas as deemednecessary. Maintains and develops own knowledge and skills throughfurther learning activities related to the role of Neurophysiologywithin the organisation.

    Functions at all times in accordance withthe national laws and regulations, legislative, regulatory andpolicy guidelines relevant to the scope of Neurophysiology practicein the State of Qatar.

    Skills Job Knowledge & SkillsAccurate and precise conduction of a variety of Neurodiagnostictests in children and adults. Ability to report and discussfindings with referring physicians to aid in accurate and timelydiagnosis/treatment. Patient counselling. Equipment Calibration.
    Ability to explain and calm anxious or nervous patients. Evidenceof appropriate continued professional development. Proficiency inthe administration of standardized outcome measure testingapplicable to area of work. Expertise in the application ofevidence-based practice. Understanding of robust documentationpractices and the use of an EMR. Previous experience working in amulti -disciplinary care team. Ability to work without supervisionin the diagnostic and rehabilitation areas.


    Job Experience Overseascandidates:
    − Two years (2) recent experience in at leastone of the Neurodiagnostic specializations. For Qatari Nationals,Qatar Universities graduates, offspring of Qatari women oroffspring of residents, they are required to complete a trainingperiod of one year under supervision of a licensed healthcarepractitioner (Refer to DHP CircularNo.24/2020).
