Qatar Petroleum (QP) is astate-owned public corporation established byEmiri Decree No. 10 in1974. It is responsible for all phases of the oiland gas industryin the State of Qatar.

The principal activities of QP, itssubsidiaries and joint ventures arethe exploration, production,local and international sale of crude oil,natural gas and gasliquids, refined products, synthetic fuels,petrochemicals, fueladditives, fertilizers, liquefied natural gas(LNG), steel andaluminium.

QP's strategy of conducting hydrocarbonexploration and development isthrough Exploration and ProductionSharing Agreements (EPSA) andDevelopment and Production SharingAgreements (DPSA) concluded withmajor international oil and gascompanies.

The operations and activities of QP and its affiliatesare conducted atvarious onshore locations, including Doha, Dukhanand the Mesaieed andRas Laffan Industrial Cities, as well asoffshore areas including HalulIsland, offshore production stations,drilling platforms and the NorthField.
