    Description (MEEN) Program

    Texas A&M University at Qatar invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the assistant level. The position is in the areas of robotics and autonomous systems, with preference given to candidates with expertise in emerging technologies with novel theoretical developments and practical applications, such as:

    1. Industrial robotics
    2. Control, autonomous systems
    3. Intelligent robotics for exploration, manufacturing, and construction
    4. Advanced sensor and actuation technologies
    5. Mechatronics and human-machine interaction
    6. Applications of artificial intelligence to robotics and autonomous systems

    Faculty at Texas A&M University Qatar Campus (TAMUQ) are of two types: instructional track and research track. This position is a research-track position at the assistant level. The official title for this position is Research Assistant Professor, with the working title of Engineering Assistant Professor. Research-track faculty at TAMUQ are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop an independent research program, as well as to engage through scholarship within the university and their discipline.

    This non-tenure track position assumes a 9-month academic appointment with an anticipated start date of Fall. The hired faculty member is eligible to receive a startup package that covers the summer salary for three years. Following this period, faculty members at Texas A&M at Qatar have a 9-month appointment and may cover the salary of the remaining months from externally funded grants and/or teaching and services.

    The Mechanical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar offers a competitive salary package commensurate with rank and experience. The package includes housing, annual home leave allowances, dependent education, local transportation allowance, medical insurance for employee and dependents, plus appropriate relocation and repatriation expenses. Faculty members are also eligible for professional development funds to help them with teaching and curriculum development.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should possess a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. The candidate should have a demonstrated scholarly record in the area of robotics and smart systems with a relevant Ph.D. dissertation and publications in reputable journals. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, developing a viable research program, and service at the professional and institutional levels.
