Bridge Inventory Dashboard in Power BI – Infrastructure Analytics for Recruiters

As part of my infrastructure analytics portfolio, I developed a comprehensive Bridge Inventory Dashboard in Microsoft Power BI to visualize and monitor the condition, age, and replacement status of bridges across the Philippines. This project showcases my ability to clean complex datasets, build dynamic visuals, and deliver actionable insights for national infrastructure planning.

Data Sources and Preparation

  • Dataset: national_bridges_2021 containing over 8,000 bridge records
  • Fields Included: Bridge name, region, province, municipality, construction year, actual year, bridge type, condition, number of spans/piers/abutments, bridge life, and age category
  • Cleaning Steps in Power Query:

Key Metrics Tracked

  • Total Bridge Count
  • Good Condition Count
  • Critical Bridges Count
  • Average Bridge Age
  • Bridges Replaced
  • Condition Percentages: Good, Fair, Poor, Bad
  • Age Categories: New (0–24%), Midlife (50–74%), Aging (75–89%), Critical (90%+)

Visuals and Slicer Interactions

  • Main Dashboard: Interactive summary by region, province, and municipality
  • Bridge Profile Tab: Detailed breakdown of bridge age, life span, and assessed condition
  • Map Tab: Geospatial view of bridge distribution and condition
  • Calendar Slicer: Built from a custom Calendar table to filter by year range
  • Location Slicers: Region → Province → Municipality → Barangay

Future Enhancements

  • Bridge Photo Integration: Linking bridge names to publicly sourced images for visual context
  • Predictive Analytics: Flagging bridges nearing end-of-life based on age and condition trends
  • Mobile Optimization: Responsive layout for field engineers and decision-makers
