As a Credit Manager with over ten years of credit and risk experience, I am enthusiastic about the above position. My background and skills closely match the job description if the position is open, and I am confident I can positively impact your team and organization.

 

In my current role as Credit Manager at RIXOS Qetaifan Islan North, Doha, I direct all aspects of the credit granting process and coordinate a team of 4 people on the property. Additionally, I:


 

• Conducting credit investigations so that an intelligent, informed decision of customers’ creditworthiness, character and ability to pay may be ascertained to justify the extension of credit.
• Ensuring the collection of accounts receivable is kept current and following up closely on over-aged accounts.
• Maintaining good relations with hotel customers, including but not limited to wholesalers, corporate clients, hotel guests, travel agents, tour operators, function organisers, airlines, government, etc.
• Reviewing supporting documents and verifying the accuracy of the balance of receivables.
• According to the ageing of the timely provision for bad debts, only the full recovery of arrears is still not received, per the hotel approval process before the approval of the cancellation of the non-recovery account.
• Immediately report any unfavourable information received on a customer’s credit standing so that appropriate action may be taken.
• Report directly to General Manager and Director of Finance on all matters affecting credit and collection.
• Ensuring that all credit application forms are approved and updated annually.
• Supervising the activities of the credit staff to achieve an efficient and effective performance of each individual’s duties and responsibilities.
• Maintaining the latest credit policy and ensuring that this policy is strictly adhered to and implemented.
• Working closely with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and Clerk to follow up on overdue accounts.
• Ensuring that all collection calls have been made timely, documented in writing and followed up every month.
• Scheduling credit meetings at least once a month.
• Ensuring that the number of debtor days outstanding is within the acceptable range as stipulated in the policies and procedures manual.
• Preparing all supporting documentation for monthly allowances and journal vouchers relating to the receivable ledger.
• Ensuring timely and accurate entry of all credits to the various accounts.
• Ensuring monthly closing/processes are completed promptly and accurately and that the vouchers are booked into the correct account.
• Proactively follow up on outstanding accounts to protect the hotel from loss.
• Preparing all necessary reports about accounts receivable.
• Alerting sister hotels on bad debt accounts to prevent losses that may be incurred in the sister hotels.
• Processing and controlling all sundry payments made by credit card.
• Maintaining an adequate and up-to-date filing system.
 

 

I have a strong reputation for the exceptional communication and analytical skills and my ability to solve complex problems and resolve issues diplomatically. I was delighted to receive appreciation from the management last year for exceeding all assigned targets and objectives.

 

In addition to my professional experience, I am a Diploma holder in Hotel Management at Swiss Lanka Hotel School and was the top student in my semester. Also, I have completed another two diplomas related to Finance and accounting. Currently, I’m following an MBA in Tourism and Hospitality at Thames College for Further and Higher Education affiliated with the Asia e University (AeU) Malaysia.
