The Student Central Services Departmentinvites applications for the position of Career ServicesSpecialist.Your Commitment Reporting to the Head, Career Services,the successful candidate will support the career services functionof the University, by coordinating and implementing career-relatedinterventions as required.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperational The successful candidate will support in the executionof comprehensive career services programs and initiatives, thatmeet the needs of the student population.
Simultaneously, documentand record policies that govern career services operations;including but not limited to career coaching and supports, studentemployment, external employer relations and career fairorganization.
The successful candidate will provide careeradvising, coaching and support to students; guide them on resumeand cover letter reviews, job search strategy coaching andinterview preparation.
As well as, support in the organization ofthe annual career fair of the University, other career events,workshops and programs for students.
The successful candidate willsupport the student employment processes, by ensuring all stagesare successfully executed and deliverables are met. At the sametime, support and assist students in securing and completing workterm placements.The successful candidate will support inconducting career assessments for students using career tools andtechniques, to determine their suitability for potential careerpaths.
Also, develop career-related resources, such as careerguides, tip sheets, and online tools, that students can use tofurther their career goals.
The successful candidate will maintaina database of employers, with key contact information.Theincumbent will assist students with identifying potential careeropportunities and ensure that all documentation pertaining to thecareer services function of the University are updated andaccurately documented.
The successful candidate will assist incollecting and analyzing data on career services programs andinitiatives that will support data-driven decision making on careerprogram development and improvement.
Similarly, support the careerservices team in outreach and communication efforts to promotecareer services programs and resources to the campus community.
Thesuccessful candidate will assist in managing the career servicesmarketing, social media and web presence.In the same way, providegeneral administrative support to the career services team, such asscheduling appointments, responding to email inquiries, andmaintaining program resources and materials.
The successfulcandidate will keep abreast with best practices in career services,industry trends, job market outlooks and employer needs; and informcareer advising and career program development.
Also, perform otherjob-related miscellaneous duties, asassigned.
