- Conduct regular thoroughexaminations on newborns and young children to check and recordtheir health and normal physicaldevelopment
- Examine sick children to determinetheir condition and ask intuitive questions to gather informationabout symptoms
- Reach an informed diagnosisbased on scientific knowledge and individual medicalhistory
- Prescribe medications and give detailedinstructions for administration
- Prescribe andinterpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information forpossible infections or abnormalities
- Prepareand administer vaccines according to the governmental vaccinationplan
- Examine and treat injuries and refer thelittle patients to physicians of other disciplines when necessary(e.g. surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedistsetc.)
- Advise parents on children'sdiet, exercise and disease preventivemeasures
- Keep updated records ofpatients' illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes(allergic shocks, injuries etc.)
- Keep abreastof advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attendingseminars and conferences
