    Ensure all responsibilities of a Shop Manager duringhis absence and jointly control and direct store management inpresence of Shop Manager

    Ensure customerservice/sales takes priority over tasks

    Exhibit and promote high standards of internal customer care

    Optimise sales in line with company budgetsensuring right product at right time

    Ensureall sales opportunities are maximised through effective use of allpromotional/marketing opportunities

    Ensureeffective merchandising layout implemented in relation to salestargets and store objectives utilising merchandising standards asset out in section 3

    Monitor and continuouslyseek to understand commercial environment local trading patternscompetitor activity and market trends in the retail sector andtheir impact in store

    Monitor handling ofcustomer complaints in line with Company policy and seek regularfeedback

    Manage operating costs withinbudgetary guidelines

    To maintain strict levelsof confidentiality with regard to all areas of the businessparticularly commercial information and personal details ofemployees

    Carry out regular and relevantinstore training audits and enrol staff on relevant Learning andDevelopment courses

    Ensure store expectationsand priorities are communicated to staff and regularly review andprovide feedback on staffs performance against expectations

    Optimise the use of support resourcesincluding the Visual Merchandising Coordinators Trainers DeptSupervisors Cashiers Back store staff etc

    Ensure regular showroom staff meetings are carried out tocommunicate business goals and training delivered

    Ensure that job rotation is implemented in theshowroom giving each staff member an opportunity to move todifferent section in the division/showroom

    Maintain high standards of visual appearance throughout the storeincluding all nonretail areas & maintain window and instoredisplays to a high standard in line with merchandising guidelines

    Operate an effective stock management/Backstore management system to maximise sales and profitability

    Recommend price revisions to Concept Managerand Merchandise Manager

    Translate companystrategy objectives and policies into relevant realistic workingtargets and practices for the shop (ex promotions sales budgets)

    Monitor sales performance against last yearlast week and budget on a daily and weekly basis and communicate tostaff

    Ensure seasonal peaks and importanttrading/promotional events are taken account of when preparingforecasts and staff rosters

    Provide departmentreports on slow moving fast moving and non moving items to the DeptSupervisors and Inventory Controller/Warehouse Manager

    Interpret and act on operational profit andsales reports generated through finance and focus on improvingunderperforming areas
