Noha Afifi

A certified English language teacher (with a PCELT international certificate) with 3 years of teaching and voluntary training experience and 5 years of writing, translating and proofreading experience. I find my passion in teaching  the English language, specifically the National British curriculum, using advanced technology and innovative teaching methods for different age groups – kids, elementary school students, high school students, and college students. 

Being a teacher is being a parent, a mentor, and most importantly a friend. I have worked with different age groups and taught a variety of curriculums over the years. With 3 years of teaching and training, I have been:

• A teaching assistant at the Islamic University of Gaza in 2020-2021: I taught Oral Communication Skills and the English Language Requirement courses - teaching parts of the UK Curriculum.
• An English Language trainer at AMIDEAST (the US Consulate) teaching the English language, critical thinking, and proposal writing skills in 10 different mini-grant projects in 2018-2018.
• English Language trainer at AMIDEAST for “Access Stage” project to train people with success stories develop storytelling skills.
• English Language teacher at the Islamic University of Gaza in 2019 during a summer camp for high school graduates.
• English Language trainer for the Hult Prize competition to train university students to write their project proposals using proper English Language.
• Teaching assistant at Beach Elem. Co-ed UNRWA School 2020 where I taught the Palestinian curriculum.
• Teaching assistant at Mustafa Hafiz Primary Public School 2019 - 2020.
• Teaching assistant at a TOEFL IBT Course at AMISEAST, 2017.
• Teaching assistant at the Kids Classes Program at AMIDEAST:  June – July 2015, June – July 2016, January 2017, June – July 2017.

During all these programs and training sessions, I managed to develop a great sense of student needs. I fully understand how each age group has its own properties of activities choice and methods of delivering information. Due to having a PCELT certificate (Professional Certificate in English Language Teaching) from the US Consulate, my classes are usually well-organized and full of activities - and mostly far from the conventional teaching methods that mainly rely on the teacher. I believe in creating a student-centered class where all students are constantly participating in either a game, an activity, or a group work. Even though I employ technology in most of my classes, I still usually like to use visuals such as cards, posters, or props - even for older students! It is all about making the class fun and memorable.
