Your job

Do you want tohelp find out what is really going on in Alzheimer's disease? Whydoes the disease sweep through the brain in such a determinedmanner? Why do amyloid aggregates form in certain brain regions andnot others? Why are some brain regions devastated and othersspared?

In our previous work, we haveidentified a new mode of amyloid interactions based on localsequence similarity to aggregation-prone regions and the NationalInstitute on Aging has just granted us a 5-year project toinvestigate the interaction of amyloid-beta and tau with otherbrain region-specific

The projectentails:

• a genome-wide computationalscreen for specific (heterotypic) interactions between theaggregation-prone regions of amyloid-forming proteins and thebackground proteome
• testing the candidateproteins in cellular models and then in mice
• biophysical analyses to discern the exactmechanism by which heterotypic interactions change amyloid

We re looking for a postdoc to joina growing team to take this project to

Yourprofile

• A in a topic related toprotein aggregation /protein biophysics
• A keeninterest in protein aggregation and its role in disease
• Expertise in biophysical or biochemicalmethods to study protein aggregation
• A highaffinity for bioinformatics
• A solid publicationrecord
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic,critical, and creative
• Excellent written andoral communication skills
• Can supervisedoctoral/master's students
• Can work in amultidisciplinary and multicultural team
• Experience with mammalian cell culture orhigh-content screening is a plus
