    Actively participates in the technical andanalytical work of the section.

    Liaises withSupervisor on appropriateness of tests, results and additionaltesting as required.

    Monitors, records, andreports back results, participating in discussion to rectify areasof concern if necessary.

    Identifies problemsthat may adversely affect test performance or reporting of testresults and either corrects the problem or notifies the supervisor.

    Collects laboratory specimens and performsassigned laboratory procedures and other tests as necessary andimmediately reports abnormal findings to appropriate staff.

    Verifies all critical results and documents withaccurate follow-up.

    Performs appropriatedocumentation of laboratory procedures to assure the accuracy oflaboratory records.

    In liaison with theSupervisor, ensures adequate stocks of reagents and consumables areavailable for the efficient running of the service.

    Orders laboratory supplies, rotates stock andmonitors expiration dates.

    Operates complexautomated laboratory equipment, electronic equipment, computersoftware, and precision instruments.

    In liaisonwith the Supervisor, provides technical advice on, and assists inthe selection / validation of new equipment.

    Job Responsibilities2

    Takes responsibility for themaintenance and safe use of equipment within the section.

    Uses Laboratory Information System (LIS) togenerate workload statistics, run queries and assess quality ofdata according to defined criteria.

    Ensurespolicies and procedures for the sections are adhered to.

    Adheres to the Hospital standards as they appearin the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.

    Adheres to the laboratory's qualitycontrol policies and procedures and documents all quality controlactivities.

    Helps ensure the provision of a highquality, cost-effective service with the emphasis on qualityassurance in all aspects of the section supervised by monitoringand audit of internal quality control.

    Ascertains that quality control procedures arefollowed prior to releasing clinical data.

    Participates in the external quality assuranceschemes that the department subscribes to.

    Carries out corrective action as advised whenthe quality control procedures fail.

    Assists inensuring achievement of and maintaining CAP, JCI and ISO15189standards in the section.

    Maintains licensingand registration with Qatari authorities as a BiomedicalScientist/Technologist.

    Participates in theimplementation of new methodologies under the direction of theSupervisor.

    Participates in research anddevelopment as directed by the Supervisor.

    Maintains open lines of communication withcolleagues, internal and external stakeholders to ensure effectivecooperation and consultation.

    Communicates withcolleagues within the department on a range of complexsubjects.
